The Sky Blues have completed the acquisition of Danish midfielder Victor Torp from the Norwegian top flight. CoventryLive provides transfer news about Coventry City.

Victor Torp, a Danish midfielder, has joined Coventry City from Norwegian elite club Sarpsborg for a “undisclosed” price, which is estimated to be around £2.1 million.

The 24-year-old former youth international for Denmark signs a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Sky Blues that expires in June 2028. It is believed that Sarpsborg’s Player of the Year from the previous campaign, who arrived as Mark Robins’ first acquisition of the January transfer window, could replace the vacuum left by Gustavo Hamer’s departure back in August.

Torp started his career with Danish top flight side FC Midtjylland before four loan spells in Denmark and Belgium before going to the Norwegian top division, Eliteserien, in 2022, signing a three year contract. For Sarpsborg in the previous season, the No. 8 netted six goals in 30 games.

The athlete, who is described as an agile and all-action midfielder, is expected to contribute both creativity and combativeness to the Sky Blues’ midfield.

“We’re delighted to welcome Victor to Coventry City,” manager Mark Robins stated. He is a player who offers us athleticism and inventiveness.

“He will need a period of adjustment but we are confident that he will adapt to the intensity and demands of training and the Championship. Victor will be working with us to further his football development, and we look forward to working with him.

If Torp receives his international clearance in time, he may be able to play for the Sky Blues against Leicester City on Saturday at CBS Arena.
