Sheffield United is fighting to avoid Premier League relegation, and Chris Wilder is trying to bolster his team.

Danny Ward, the goalkeeper for Leicester City, is apparently a target for Sheffield United this month. It is well known that the Blades will be searching for a new goalkeeper in January as they attempt to make the required changes to aid them in the fight against Premier League relegation.

Naturally, during the past few weeks, Kasper Schmeichel—formerly of Leicester—has been frequently linked to a move to Bramall Lane and could be a possibility for the team. However, Sky Sports reports that United are interested in Ward, who might end up being a less expensive alternative for the team.

Due to his position below Mads Hermansen in the King Power Stadium hierarchy, Ward hasn’t played a minute in the first squad under Foxes manager Enzo Maresca this season. Therefore, it’s possible that the Wales international will be available this month, and Wilder is reportedly eager to have him join his team so he can challenge Wes Foderingham for the top slot.

The Blades are set to shorten the loan of Luke Thomas, who is currently on loan from Leicester, according to Alan Nixon. Thomas has struggled to find opportunities since replacing manager Paul Heckingbottom with Wilder. To free up the loan spot needed to sign Ward, the club may send him back to Leicestershire.

Thomas has been with the Blades since the start of the Premier League season, making 12 league appearances. Ward, who joined Leicester from Liverpool in 2018, has made 27 league appearances for the Foxes and has previously played for Wrexham, Tamworth, Morecambe, Aberdeen, and Huddersfield Town.
