Former West Ham winger Felipe Anderson is scheduled to meet with Aston Villa to discuss returning to the United Kingdom.

After struggling to get playing time under Hammers manager David Moyes, Felipe Anderson departed West Ham in the summer of 2021 to join his former team, Lazio. However, it appears that Aston Villa may be able to lure Anderson back to the Premier League.

While clubs are starting to conduct business during the January transfer window, Villa appears eager to finalize an agreement for Anderson before the summer.

The 30-year-old has been playing brilliantly for Lazio since leaving West Ham, therefore I believe Moyes made a huge mistake in selling him for barely £4 million.

The Hammers manager may come to regret allowing the Brazilian winger to leave the team 2.5 years ago, based on the appearance of the player.

This is due to reports from Sky Sports that Anderson and Aston Villa are prepared to negotiate a pre-contract this month in order to sign Anderson for free in the summer.

The Premier League is currently being dominated by Unai Emery’s team, so the Lazio star must be doing something right for the Spaniard to want him.

Felipe Anderson wanted by Aston Villa

Since joining Lazio again in 2021, the 30-year-old winger has scored 20 goals and provided 23 assists (Transfermarkt).

He has demonstrated true form, and there are no indications that he will soon slow down.

Should Villa initiate pre-contract negotiations to secure his services, it would underscore a grave error committed by Moyes.

He ought to have held onto him longer, in my opinion, or sold him for a far higher price. His performance in Italy indicates that he still possesses the necessary skills to have a significant impact at the highest level of the game.

It’s strange because, with Lucas Paqueta sidelined due to injury and Mohammed Kudus expected to miss four or five weeks of activity due to his AFCON trip, we could really use someone like the South American winger right now.

Felipe Anderson will make West Ham appear extremely foolish if he signs a free transfer to Aston Villa in the summer and winds up playing brilliantly for the west Midlands team.
