Wolves moved up to 11th in the table after a solid 3-0 win over a tenacious Everton side last weekend.

The Old Gold have now won four of their past six Premier League games, including all three of their previous three.

With Wolves’ improved form and some players receiving interest from other clubs, Gary O’Neil will want to bolster his team in January.

Hee-Chan Hwang and Ismaila Sarr are the most recent Wolves transfers.

According to Footballer Insider, Liverpool and Tottenham are interested in signing Wolves’ Hee-Chan Hwang in January.

As a result, Wolves may require a replacement. That this explain why Ismaila Sarr of Marseille has been described as “top-class” by journalist Rob Blanchette. Last month, it was reported that the Midlands side were keeping an eye on his status in France.

A January deal is likely, with the Marseille winger valued at £13 million by Football Transfers; however, Wolves may have to make some outgoings to fund the purchase.

Ismaila Sarr’s Playing Style

With Hwang’s potential departure in the upcoming summer, if not in January, O’Neil needs to begin searching for a suitable replacement.

Hwang, a versatile attacker excelling on the wing or as a lone center forward, has proven his prowess as a clinical striker this season, tallying ten goals and three assists in 20 matches. This impressive performance underscores the challenge of finding a player of similar caliber.

While the prospective signing of Sarr may not be a direct, like-for-like replacement for Hwang, as the former Watford star primarily plays as a winger, especially on the right, it raises the question of whether Wolves are considering acquiring a true number-nine replacement or entrusting Matheus Cunha to excel in a striker role. The following statistics from the last year across the top European leagues encapsulate Sarr’s playing profile.

Sarr has appeared in 21 games for the French club this season, scoring four goals and assisting on two others. However, he has failed to establish himself in the starting XI since joining from Watford, particularly since Gennaro Gattuso has opted for a three-back configuration with Jonathan Clauss playing as a wing-back.

This has had a minor influence on Sarr’s stats this season, although he still ranks relatively high in terms of goals per 90 minutes and touches in the offensive penalty area. The 25-year-old is athletic, tremendously fast, and deadly on the counterattack, making him a good fit for Wolves.

O’Neil also uses a three-back formation, however he prefers to use two inverted wingers or attacking midfielders. Sarr would fill the role of Pablo Sarabia as right forward if he joined Wolves. This would allow him to go closer to the box, where he might damage the opponent by cutting inside and shooting with his preferred left foot.

Sarr would obviously not be a direct replacement for Hwang, but he may have a great impact on the squad. The ex-Rennes star was worth up to £26.5 million in the summer, but his rocky start in France has reduced that dramatically. However, it is worth taking a chance on an attacker with five Premier League goals.
