According to Sky Sports, Everton will face off against Brentford in their attempt to acquire Real Betis forward Assane Diao during the January transfer window.

If funds become available throughout the next few days and weeks, the Toffees have already started their due diligence.

In November of last year, Mundo Deportivo stated that the 18-year-old Spanish teenager was being watched by the Bees, and Sky Sports had alleged that they had put in a 21.6 million dollar bid for him.

Act quick

Diao’s breakthrough year in 2023 and his international status for Spain’s U21 squad highlight his bright future and demonstrate his first-team caliber of play.

With his versatility and ability to score goals from the wings, the Spaniard’s offensive skill set should greatly improve the Toffees’ offensive potential.

The urgency for Everton lies in Brentford’s swift bid of over £20million and they need to act quickly if they are to get this deal over the line.

Everton’s intention to address defensive deficiencies and bolster their wide offensive positions is in line with their active pursuit of the 18-year-old.

Although their thoroughness shows that they understand Diao’s value, they must act quickly to thwart Brentford’s competition.

Nevertheless, in light of the present takeover drama, it is unclear if the board will approve of this amount of money.
