There have been numerous exceptional performers for Aston Villa in a top-class 2023 season, but who are the’most improved’?

Aston Villa finished the calendar year in second position in the Premier League, a fantastic achievement.

With Unai Emery at the helm, it has been a genuinely remarkable year that Villa fans will not soon forget. As a result, they have qualified for the Europa Conference League and are now vying for a place in the Champions League.

In 2023, there have undoubtedly been more positive than negative performances, and as a result, there is much to discuss. Having said that, who are Aston Villa’s three’most improved’ players for 2023?

Douglas Luiz, like Watkins, has been one of Villa’s top performers in recent seasons when playing in the right position.

His goal productivity has increased in recent months, and he now has nine goal involvements in 19 league games, according to FotMob. Although some have been penalties, he has demonstrated the fortitude to step up and accept them in high-pressure situations.

Although he has been a solid player at Villa Park for many seasons, he has been one of the most improved this year.

Leon Bailey has been one of Aston Villa’s most improved players this season, if not the most improved.

He has been a vital player under Emery this season, with 11 goal involvements. He has only started eight Premier League games, yet he has one of the league’s greatest goal and assist per 90 ratios.

This season, his impact on the Villans has been enormous, and they appear to be a different team without him in the starting XI. Given his recent performance, it is encouraging to see him continue to improve. He deserves to be called the most improved player.

Ollie Watkins

Ollie Watkins has been a reliable performer for Villa since joining from Brentford in 2020. He has scored 16 goals in two of his three seasons with the club, according to FotMob. In comparison, he has 14 goals and 14 assists in 27 games this season.

In addition, at the time of writing, he had the most assists in the Premier League in the 2023/24 season. That is an incredible record for a striker to have nine goals and eight assists in 20 games.

Despite previously being one of the Villans’ finest players in recent seasons, he has elevated his game in 2023. He is without a doubt one of the most improved claret players.
