Rangers must get “fresh investment” at Ibrox in order for the club to advance, and Douglas Park has been instructed to sell the team.

Tam McManus thinks the news that US entrepreneur Kyle Fox withdrew her offer to invest in the Scottish Premiership team was a blow for Gers supporters.

After nine months of fruitless negotiations, Fox reportedly withdrew her offer to purchase a “controlling stake” in the Ibrox giants, according to a 15 March report by BBC News.

McManus thinks it’s high time for Scottish businessman Park to cash in and leave Ibrox despite reports that he hasn’t indicated any intention of selling his investment in Rangers.

In an interview with Ibrox News, McManus said:

“I suppose she was going to come in with the deeper pockets. It is a setback.

“Rangers need a new owner to inject new money and new investment into the team.

They currently lag well behind Celtic both financially and on the field.

Rangers won’t be able to catch Celtic without spending a lot of money, as they have a good chance of winning the treble this year.

I don’t think Douglas Park and the current board are going to put in massive money, they’ve already done that to get Rangers back to where they are now and into a European final.

I think the time is right for Douglas to sell the club and get the new capital in.

It’s a blow for the fans [that Fox has backed out] because she’s been the one spoken about for the last few months and she’s worth a few quid.”

In recent weeks, the board has come under growing fire from Rangers supporters, with Ross Wilson and Stewart Robertson receiving the most of the criticism.
