Steve Cooper, the head coach of Nottingham Forest, provided an update on Nuno Tavares. As the Reds fell to Manchester City 2-0 yesterday, the player on loan from Arsenal was forced off with an injury.

This was the left-sided wing-back’s maiden game at the helm for the Reds. However, Tavares exited the field holding his groin, and he now likely have to sit out for a while.

No news must currently be seen as good news. Although the Reds have alternative left-back options, they will want to make sure Tavares is on hand.

Cooper was asked about the 23-year-old Arsenal loanee after his withdrawal at the Etihad Stadium. He truly doesn’t currently have any conclusive information regarding the player.

I don’t know how he is,” he admitted to Nottinghamshire Live. I believe he came off as having a minor groin issue. We will need to examine him. That’s how it seemed, but I’m not sure.

Cooper, the head coach of Forest, will be hoping for good Tavares news.

To lose the child for an extended period of time would be devastating. It certainly wouldn’t be great, so perhaps some good news will emerge before the weekend.

Last season, Tavares shone for Marseille. He played as a left wing-back and scored six goals from that position; Forest is hoping he can do the same with them.

Early on in yesterday’s game, the gifted player did lose focus. He teed up Phil Foden for the opening and had no idea where Kyle Walker was behind him.

Although Tavares is a good player, Forest will be hoping that this injury doesn’t keep him out for an extended period of time.
