One of England’s little-known stars in Germany is Marc Guehi, a Crystal Palace player who was a member of the U17 World Cup-winning squad, so he knows what it takes to defeat Spain.

One of the few Englishmen on the planet with experience of defeating Spain in a major final is Marc Guehi.

And he’s using that experience as a springboard to do it again. Guehi was a member of the English team that won the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup in India by crushing the Spanish.

Phil Foden and the defense both scored in the championship game, and Conor Gallagher was a member of the victorious team. After seven years, Guehi finds himself in a confrontation with some well-known opponents when England prepares to play Spain in the Berlin final of the Euro 2024.

Even though Guehi is now a senior, as a gifted teenager, she still remembers the excitement of winning. “It was an incredible memory for everyone involved,” he remarked. And it’s amazing that we’re a part of that and this game right now.

“There are undoubtedly a ton of small football-related lessons to be learned from both wins and losses, as well as from events that occurred during games. Even though everything will be very different on Sunday, it was still an incredible experience, and I’m glad I got to be here.

Guehi must feel like pinching himself. He came to Euro 2024 as one of England’s unheralded stars, but has go on to become one of their greatest.

And now finds himself in the final, in his first tournament at senior level. He could be forgiven for pinching himself. But Guehi is not fazed by the stakes ahead of him, and admits he’s trying to keep as cool as he can under all the pressure.

Guehi said: “You never know when you are going to get these opportunities again, so I have enjoyed literally everything from the first training camp to the first game. The atmosphere and trying to soak everything up.

All I really want to do is concentrate on the game. I’ve been trying not to plan too far ahead. All I’m doing is taking it easy. I admit that I get anxious, but I try to use that feeling to my advantage.

Guehi is so carefree that he hasn’t even imagined himself winning in Berlin. The Crystal Palace player said, “No, not really,” after seeing England lose to Italy in the previous Euros final on television at home.

“For me, it’s always about the journey and the process. If the process is right, which is the work and the game, then the rest will fall into place.

“I was just devastated (in 2021), like every single person. To come so close, it’s a tough feeling.

“I know these boys, every single one of them, and it could be a moment of redemption.”
