With the changes to the team at London Stadium, it is becoming less probable that West Ham United would sign Jesse Lingard on a free transfer.
According to West Ham Football, the likelihood of Jesse Lingard joining the club on a free transfer is “diminishing” as other players vie for his spot.

On September 19, the editor of Six Foot Two tweeted that, while David Moyes will have the last say, the free agent may be “surplus to requirements” and “struggle to get game time” if he is handed a deal.

After leaving Nottingham Forest, the former Irons loanee trained with the team throughout the summer, but nothing has been decided as of yet.

Even though the Premier League squad registration deadline has passed, the Hammers can still sign him because they only now have 25 players over the age of 21.

expensive backup?

Obviously, whether Lingard should be officially brought in relies entirely on how much it will cost West Ham and how much Moyes believes he can get out of him.

Given that he has been available for weeks without being signed, it is likely that the manager doesn’t think he can currently get that much out of him.

There is minimal possibility of him playing unless he miraculously returns to form because he is not likely to be selected ahead of at least Jarrod Bowen, James Ward-Prowse, Lucas Paqueta, or Mohammed Kudus in attacking midfield roles.

Additionally, there are Said Benrahma, Pablo Fornals, and, in principle, Maxwel Cornet to consider as backups for the supporting attack duties.

It wouldn’t be a tremendous reach for Moyes to prefer Lingard to the Ivorian, who hasn’t really taken off under the Irons manager, and Benrahma and Fornals’ futures are still up in the air.

It would therefore be possible for the manager to hire the candidate he has been pursuing for the previous two years if either of them were to depart in January, but until then, it might not make much sense unless it is a cheap transaction.

A talented West Ham player who attempted to transfer to the London Stadium was unsuccessful.
